Synopsis
Although no one seems to remember it, Lebanon was a pioneer country in air and space research back in the late 1960s, and they invented the first rocket in the history of the Arab world. The team Hadjithomas / Joreige vindicates a place for their nation in the imaginary of the space conquest through a research that goes beyond Google and takes them across endless archives and libraries, until they find the priceless material professor Manoug Manougian keeps. They also use the trip to contrast today’s reality in Lebanon with how things could have been, while displaying an interest catalogue of film resources that witness the endless flows connecting the past and the present, individual and collective, dream and wakefulness. As they go along, they make a strictly personal summary of the last fifty years in the history of a country that had such a convulse evolution that it erased one of its most luminous chapters from its official annals.
