Synopsis

Try it yourself: think about the WHOLE history of music for ten seconds straight. You’ll get a hyper-concentrated whirl of sounds from different times and origins –a remix, in other words. You’ll get exactly the same thing you can see in this documentary: a project in which five contemporary Djs and producers respectfully and bravely address the history of music and its genres by trying to remix, spread, update, and concentrate the past with the hurries of the present. This way, jazz gets transfigured by Mark Ronson, classical music by Dj Premier, rock by Skrillex, soul by The Crystal Method, and country by Pretty Lights. With the not-always peaceful collaboration of notable artists of these genres (in fact, the moments of generational friction are the most intense ones), these songs set the clock on time and end up becoming familiar for the new generations of listeners. The results of the experiment are not always fully satisfactory, but the key lies in the process and the transfiguration effort: the vindication of the producer as a figure and creative entity who is able to connect (any) music with (any) audience.
