THE CELEBRATION OF THE UNREAL

LA CELEBRACION DE LO IRREAL 06 Sun 2010

“This is Spinal Tap” is an unreal documentary about the band Spinal Tap (picture), also unreal. It is about a tour – unreal- carried out with all that it entails: ego wars, chaos, law issues and a lot, a lot of rock. The brains of the farce is director Rob Reiner, who made it the most memorable rock movie ever seen. A cult movie that no one considered a rocker can miss. Ciudad Emergente will be screening it at Microcine, today, 4 PM.

LOS REYES DEL FALSETE Y OJAS: ALTERNATIVE ‘00 MODELS

LOS REYES DEL FALSETE Y OJAS: ALTERNATIVOS MODELO ‘00 06 Sun 2010

This Sunday, we will have two alternative rock proposals. Firstly, Los Reyes del Falsete will open the day at 3 PM at Villa Villa hall; afterwards, at 6.30 PM, Ojas will be performing at the terrace stage. Ojas is a “dark” hardcore and progressive septet. Los Reyes del Falsete’s first CD, “La fiesta de la forma”, released by the end of 2009, is considered a great success. Their shows also get good reviews: two guitars and Tifi Rex’s (“mini Bonzo”) drums are played with energy and freshness.

SATURDAY: FULL DANCING WITH PONCHO

SABADO: BAILANDO SIN PARAR CON PONCHO 06 Sun 2010

Saturday closed with Poncho (picture), a 45 minute show that put everyone to dance at Centro Cultural Recoleta’s Terraza. However, they were not the only ones in moving the masses, as FOK Electroghongo did the same at Villa Villa’s hall; the Uruguayans Contra las Cuerdas shaked their heads to the sound of hip-hop. There was also room for more relaxed proposals, such as Rosal, Valle de Muñecas and Chúcaro; Robot Zonda and No lo soporto, were in charge of rock; Luchi Camorra and Custodios, pop; and Suspensivos Inflamables, dub. For everyone’s taste and ear.

SATURDAY 9.30PM – PONCHO CLOSES THE FESTIVAL’S SATURDAY

SABADO 21.30 - PONCHO CIERRA EL SABADO DEL FESTIVAL 05 Sat 2010

Poncho has been on stage for half an hour now, turning the terrace into a big outdoors dance floor. Right before it started, Javier Zuker –creative leader of the band- stated: “Although it’s the first time we participate, it’s a really good chance to play at this Festival. Let’s get the best out of it” Regarding the massive audience attending the Centro Cultural Recoleta, he said: “Probably many people have come to watch Poncho’s show, but those who did not, well; somehow we are going to captivate them.”

SATURDAY 8.30PM – ROSAL CAPTIVATES THE FESTIVAL’S AUDIENCE

SABADO 20.30 - ROSAL CAUTIVA AL PUBLICO DEL FESTIVAL 05 Sat 2010

Valle de Muñecas is about to play at the terrace stage, after a great performance by the adorable Rosal. By virtue of the delicate pop pieces, along with Maria Ezquiaga’s presence (picture) – apparently shy and fragile, but when she starts singing everything around her gets swept away- , they delighted the audience with songs such as “Canciones para el que quiera llorar”, “Educación sentimental” and the hit “Bombón”, among others. This is why they were given an ovation.

SATURDAY 7PM – ELECTROPOP AND HIP HOP, A CROWD’S PASSION

SABADO 19.00 - ELECTROPOP Y HIP HOP, PASION DE MULTITUDES 05 Sat 2010

In tune with the typical trendy Saturday night, FOK Electrochongo (photo) gave an “amphetaminic” electropop show to the crowd who overflowed Villa Villa hall. Those who were not able to come into the patio next to the hall, popped up their heads to see a bit of Juan Pablo Malvasio’s project, a different front man. Bodybuilder, he only wears boxers and boots, in absolute black, leaving uncovered his impressive body. Besides shouting and imposing clichés – he repeated phrases like “black party, red party” and “I’m cool”-, he was strongly playing the keyboards at his right.

SATURDAY 5.30 PM – CROWDED EVENING

SABADO 17.30 - TARDE MULTITUDINARIA 05 Sat 2010

There are many people around the Centro Cultural Recoleta halls. Places are being taken since early evening to enjoy the different options offered by Ciudad Emergente. An example is Street Dance’s show, in charge of Alquimia (picture), a modern dance group, made up of three dancers, accompanied by live music improvised by a guitar player, a bass player and an MC. Patio de Aljibe’s stage –naturally decorated by two palm trees- felt on itself the “robotic” steps of the company, who was given an ovation when finishing the act.

SATURDAY 3.30 PM- THE WEEKEND STARTS AT THE FESTIVAL

SABADO 15.30 - ARRANCA EL FIN DE SEMANA EN EL FESTIVAL 05 Sat 2010

Suspensivos Inflamables (picture) show has just finished, opening Saturday’s activities at Ciudad Emergente. On the terrace stage, the reggae-dub group showed a wide variety of their recordings, the ideal complement to the sunny afternoon. Likewise, they filled the air and the curiosity of those first to come by the Centro Cultural Recoleta, to enjoy a day full of activities.

THE STREET ART IS PRESENT AT CIUDAD EMERGENTE

EL ARTE DE LA CALLE TOMA EL EMERGENTE 05 Sat 2010

One of the permanent exhibitions is the one about Street Art. Two groups of artist, the “B2”, and the “Triangulo Dorado/Bera” are painting the walls of “Patio de los Tilos”, at Centro Cultural Recoleta. The “B2” make hip hop graffiti, amazing drawings – for instance a fighter similar to “Street Fighter” or a woman´s silhouette in grey-, and colorful motifs. They create their works following the rhythm of the music they reproduce. They are painters and DJ´s. Occasionally, a MC creates rhymes.

GOOD MORNING, MIGUEL

BUEN DIA, MIGUEL 05 Sat 2010

“Buen día, día” documents the life, work and death of Miguel Abuelo (picture), one of the legendary founders of our rock The film, directed by Sergio Constantino and Eduardo Pinto, will be screened this coming Saturday at 8PM at the Microcine. Gato Azul Peralta - son of the dead front man of Los Abuelos de la Nada- helps to narrate his father’s story, through previously unknown archive material. There, Miguel Abuelo can be seen talking or singing one of his classic songs. The interviews with some of Abuelo’s circle - Andrés Calamaro, Daniel Melingo, Cachorro López, Kubero Díaz and Gustavo Bazterrica- help us to get a better overview of one of the most important artists in national rock.
