Buenos Aires / Argentina: Obra lumínica
ShowsLa CarboneraObra lumínica is an arbitrary as well as a fussy proposal. This is the gathering of the work of a group of artists who perform with lights; however, they are most of the time, paradoxically, invisible. This performance also allows the coexistence, in the same theatre, of small-format plays, where light has a leading role.

Hamlet CameraHarrodsHamlet (1969)
Great Britain, 117 minutes
Direction: Tony Richardson
Script : Tony Richardson
Production: Hans Gottschalk, Neil Hartley, Leslie Linder and Martin Ransohoff
Cinematography: Gerry Fisher
Staging: Charles Rees
Production design: Jocelyn Herbert
Cast : Nicol Williamson, Judy Parfitt, Anthony Hopkins, Marianne Faithfull, Mark Dignam, Michael Pennington, Gordon Jackson, Ben Aris, Anjelica Huston
Because of the Roundhouse Theatre’s production, Williamson was considered the best Hamlet since Gielgud. Scholars agree that Gielgud and Burton were the last two colossal actors to play this role in the 20th Century. In the film version the phlegmatic Anthony Hopkins coexists with the bloody Marianne Faithfull.

Buenos Aires / Argentina: Dúo para ella sola
ShowsEl cuboStarting right from the title, the play shows us something complex. What can a duo for a sole woman mean? Not strictly an oxymoron, the interpretation of the title, at first, seems impossible without an explanation about the technical equipment that allows a sole performer to play a duo. This linguistic contradiction shall be solved through the use of a technical device, and why not, even a scientific element.

París / Francia: La Comisión central para la infancia
ShowsTeatro del PuebloChildhood´s Central Commission were a set of institutions –around 50 in France– that were dedicated to recover and save nearly 15,000 children who were left orphans after the war, stripped of their loved ones and of their traditions also. In this one-man-show, Lescot lends his body and his voice to thousands of children ,as a way to make use of the theatre to preserve the memories. A highly moving and intimate performance.

Buenos Aires / Argentina: body Art
ShowsElkafka Espacio TeatralTwo artists decide to evoke, through this performance, the time they used to be a couple. From that situation, Rodríguez Seoane and Israilevich put on stage a display of criticism to art and its related vanity fair, as well as unveiling the sense of superficiality prevailing in the present cultural universe.

Santiago / Chile: Clase
ShowsTeatro PayróThere are two characters; a professor and a student who are inside the class, discussing their points of view on politics, while outside there is a student demonstration claiming for their rights. It is the famous Marcha de los Pingüinos (Penguins March) which took place in 2006. Calderón uses this setting to confront two generations which live in the same country, but that haven´t experienced the same story nor the same tragedies.

Wroclaw / Polonia: El caso Dantón / Sprawa Dantona
ShowsCiudad Cultural KonexKlata's stage production combines three time levels that overlap without suffering any conflict. On one hand, and through its costumes, it represents the Revolutionary France of 1789. On the other hand , and through the music, it makes reference to the cultural imaginary associated with May 1968, to finally give us a critical opinion of an impoverished city–that could be any city at all–at the present.

Barcelona / España: El dúo de la africana
ShowsTeatro AvenidaIn this fiction created by Albertí y Cunillé, the traditional Spanish Zarzuela Company “Santa Espina”, is on tour around a central american country called Nueva Peñaranda Republic which is ruled by a dictator that every night turns into a regular citizen to go out to party. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Governor , in charged, to rule. This argument is the setting for this zarzuela of great theatrical audacity. The original premiere of “ El dúo de la Africana ” took place in Madrid in 1893.

Buenos Aires / Argentina: Domingo
ShowsTeatro del SurThrough this biopic, the director not only puts on stage a person that is not an actress, but chooses her own grandmother, who is 80 years old and does this for the first time in her life. The purpose is to evoke any Sunday of this woman´s life, who is just one of many common women. Her sounds, her memories and her nostalgia, have the leading roles in this performance that finds poetry in everyday life.

Buenos Aires / Argentina: Tualet
ShowsEspacio CallejónThrough a very special lighting, Onofri presents a space that is not totally defined, since the floating lighting panel provides light to a defined point and, simultaneously, the lights fades away as a way to deny the sensation of having limits; the limit that is exactly opposed to that of the chemical toilet where dancers get in and, by means of very precise and tiny movements, start expressing themselves between the obstacles placed by toilet elements that block and fill the existing 1 square meter room.

Once again, a female Hamlet though this time, it is a Hamlet who plays with the avant-garde until turning tragedy into a hilarious pop cocktail, musical included. Not much remembered outside his own country (where he is considered a cult director), Erksan was one of the first turkish film-makers in accusing the influence of modern european films.

MONTEVIDEO/ URUGUAY: atp
ShowsCiudad Cultural KonexIn atp there is no script or story to be told; there are a series of basic instructions written on a sheet of paper that indicate the beginning and end of the performance. The three dancers, a woman and two men, will have to follow these instructions in order to conduct this experiment. Here, the performers play with the sound, which is recorded by the dancers through the use of microphones that are manipulated by them; all is essential; including the silence.
