Mariana Percovich

Chayka is the original title in Russian of Chekhov’s The Seagull. The Uruguayan director and playwright Mariana Percovich presents a version of this play that is focused on theater. Percovich has received several national and international awards. She has toured her plays in Chile, Buenos Aires, Brazil, Barcelona, and Mexico. Since 2007, Percovich is Associate Director of the company Complot, a collective of artists that includes directors, actors, choreographers, dancers, and playwrights. This director’s shows, many of which have been performed in non- conventional spaces such as Jockey clubs, stables, buildings, cafes, and train stations, stand out for Percovich’s investigation of spatial theatricality, and of how the audience relates to the space.
