Mayra Bonard

Mayra Bonard is a dancer, choreographer and actress and a cofounding member of El Descueve, an iconic local contemporary dance group which pioneered a working line framed into the dancing theater which has inspired a whole generation of Argentine choreographers. With this company, there were long seasons for The Ugly Duckling (Patito feo), Beauty (Hermosura), All Happy (Todos contentos), Matured Hearts (Corazones maduros), Fortune (La fortuna) and Creature (Criatura )in national and independent circuit theaters and international festival; she was awarded several prizes and subsidies. She independently directed Close Friends (Grandes amigos) for the Centro Cultural Rojas Queerdance Series in 2007 and a year later she co-directed and interpreted The Piece of Elastic Game (El juego del elástico) with María Ucedo. She’s made music records with Gaby Kerpel, La Portuaria, Belmondo, De la Guarda and El Descueve. She lectured on contact improvisation for the Teatro San Martín Ballet and other theater groups in Buenos Aires and Bahía Blanca.
