Mauricio Kartun is a playwright, director and one of the most important Argentine drama masters. From 1973, he has written around thirty plays ranging from originals to adaptations: Chau Misterix, Pericones, Sacco y Vanzzetti, Foxtrot Fast and Nightly Air (Rápido y nocturno aire de foxtrot), Little Madonna (La Madonnita) and The Argentine Child (El niño argentino) are among his most celebrated ones. He created the Drama Career at Escuela de Arte Dramático de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, he has taught in several universities and Argentine arts schools and he has coached most of the main local playwrights; his students have been awarded over a hundred national and international prizes for their work. His works have also received the most prestigious local awards: Premio Nacional de Literatura Dramática, Konex de platino, ACE de oro, Clarín Espectáculos, Argentores, Fondo Nacional de las Artes, María Guerrero, Florencio Sánchez, among others.
