Description

Where the Dead Ones Go (Side B) (Adonde van los muertos (Lado B))is a play which refers to another one: a future work. Whereas the former reflects on death, the latter reflects on the theater. The creators of the prestigious Mendiolaza get even freer from dancing formalities and they get rid of all kinds of techniques, they do a less corporal and more intellectual work which serves as an underlying text. Thus, having an underlying discourse intention, the proposal emphasizes fragility and the amateur performer effort deprived from resources; innocence facing theater vastness. At the same time, that work which refers to this work brings forward existential questions. Instead of offering performances, Where… opens a space through which ordinary people’s opinions leaked in displayed as theater curtains on a screen. Virtual subjects-people instead of characters-answer from their own experience simple questions, the most basic ones to all human beings: who would you see for the last time? Is death part of a plan? How do you think you’ll die? Krapp does not intend to present any answers to death or theatre mystery but to put on stage a number of questions in a presentation which is much more an experience than an accomplished object.
