Description
To Love (Amar) is –according to its creators– a harsh and realistic proposal where all spatial, lightning and sound procedures are executed in an unmaskedly manual and visible way without jeopardizing the fiction present in the scene. Two chairs, a tree branch, some microphones and six actors lightening themselves up by means of torches are the only necessary elements which enable Catalán to invite the audience to join an intense, stray and adventurous night. A party can be heard at a distance. Three couples spending a weekend away in a seaside town are determined to have fun. A discotheque chat soaked in alcohol serves as theater curtain to expose human relationships. Everyone will cry their truth out and take their masks off. Some extra drinks help uninhibit the couples which will expose their private world intimacy and weaknesses. Their speeches humor and irony conceal, as a coin head and tail, such sincere harshness as it can only be pronounced in confusing night darkness. Six human beings wandering around a forest, a dancing floor, a bar or by the sea in the dark discovering that loving in the late thirties is not as easy as it looks.
