NUEVO ESPECTÁCULO DE PETER BROOK 28 Wed 2011

Warum Warum (Why Why), directed by Peter Brook and based on texts by Artaud, Meyerhold and Shakespeare among other authors, will be staged on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8 at the Sala Casacuberta of Teatro San Martín. This inclusion makes up for the cancellation of Patrice Chéreau lit “Le Grand Inquisiteur” (Patrice Chéreau reads “El Gran Inquisidor”), as its protagonist was unable to travel to Buenos Aires for health reasons. For those who are interested in attending Brook’s stage production, you will have to go to the Teatro San Martín one hour before showtime to exchange your tickets. It is worth mentioning that you will keep the original seats.

La amante fascista by Chilean author Alejandro Moreno, one of Latin America’s major contemporary playwrights, will staged today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) at 8 p.m., at Teatro Margarita Xirgu in San Telmo (Chacabuco 875). The talk titled “Vinculaciones entre festivales, productores, curadores y artistas” (Relations between festivals, producers, curators and artists) – to be held today, Tuesday, at 11.30 a.m. at Teatro San Martín, with free admission – will aim at finding common ground between the type of search carried out by producers and festivals and artists’ expectations. The meeting will feature the participation of Gerardo Kleinburg (Mexico), Guillermo Heras (Spain), Carolina Pecheny (France), Guillermo Gallardo Prat (Chile), Guy Pierre Couleau (France) and Argentine Joaquín Bonet and Luis Garay. It will be moderated by artist and cultural manager Alberto Ligaluppi.

Today, Monday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Centro Cultural Recoleta’s Sala 6 hosts the exhibition “Obra Gráfica para Teatro” by designer Gonzalo Martínez, featuring a retrospective of his works for independent productions of the Buenos Aires theater scene from 1994 until now: programs, posters and an entire graphic system especially designed for the plays. The exhibition is free and can be visited until October 2 from Monday to Friday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Tonight is the night: at 9 p.m., Estrella Morente makes her debut in Buenos Aires at Teatro Coliseo (M. T. de Alvear 1125). The participation of the Spanish flamenco singer is one of the highlights of the Festival’s international program, for the full weight of her artistic stature and for being heiress to a lineage of flamenco artists, less than a year after the sorrowful death of her father, Enrique, a true visionary of the music genre.
