“PROYECTOCLÁSICO” BEGINS

COMIENZA “PROYECTOCLÁSICO”

Today’s presentation of Alfredo Ramos’s Curepí (at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.), based on Oscar Wilde’s Salome, will open the “ProyectoClásico” section, one of the new features of this 2011 edition, which will be hosted at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas. This section, created and curated by Matías Umpierrez, features three outstanding local theater directors and their adaptations of world classics. Other plays scheduled for today include: Si es amor de verdad, me dirás cuánto entonces (at 7.30 p.m. and 10 p.m.) by Beatriz Catani and Quico García, adapted from William Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. Then the series of plays continues on Saturday 1 (at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.) with Hécuba o el gineceo canino, by Emilio García Wehbi, from Euripides’ Hecuba (text included: Bufido, by Nicolás Prividera).

The three specially selected plays share a common tragic structure and a dilemma (the use or abuse of political power), from the personal perspective of each director. After tonight, Curepí will be on stage again on Friday, October 7 at 9 p.m.; Si es amor de verdad, me dirás cuánto entonces, same day at 9.30 p.m.; and Hécuba o el gineceo canino, on Saturday 8 at 9 p.m. All performances will take place at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas.
