Iracity Cardoso e Inês Bogéa

The São Paulo Companhia de Dança was established in 2008 by the São Paulo State Department of Culture as a repertoire company dedicated to presenting dance programs of canonical works and original ballets. The company has already presented fifteen programs, including versions of pieces by Nijinsky, Balanchine, Chouinard, Kylián, and Cranko, and original works by contemporary choreographers. The company directors, Iracity Cardoso and Inês Bogéa, have held different roles in the field of performing arts. Cardoso served as curator of and advisor to the São Paulo State Department of Culture (2006-07) and director of Ballet Gulbenkian (Portugal, 1996-2003) and Ballet du Grand Thêatre de Genève (Switzerland, 1980-88). She has also danced with companies in Germany and France. Bogéa is a faculty member in the Art Media Studies program at Centro Universitário Maria Antônia (USP). She has danced with Grupo Corpo, is the author and editor of several books on dance, and has made thirty documentary films.
