Matías Umpierrez

Bio

Born in 1980, he wrote and staged Novela; he directed Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute, and Gente favorita, by Laura de Weck, among others. In 2007, he was called by the Universidad de Buenos Aires to coordinate the Theater Department’s activities of the Centro Cultural Rector Ricardo Rojas and, since then, he has developed curatorial projects such as “Óperas Primas”, “LaboratorioTeatro”, “Panorama en Work in Progress”, “ProyectoManual”, “Decálogo. Indagaciones sobre los 10 mandamientos”, “Intervenciones/Rojas” and “ProyectoClásico”. In 2010, he created, together with Spanish playwright Paco Bezerra, the play La tierra de las montañas calmas.
