Description

Three youngsters becoming of age live together in an artificial green meadow-most probably a futuristic field or suburb. The world is far away or it has vanished and that remoteness promotes primal instincts surfacing in this forced coexistence exempted from any mandatory rules and conventions. Two men and a woman relate childishly like orphan brothers or mother and sons or a woman and her lovers as two apprentices would with a sweetly sadistic governess. All becomes possible when movement sets limits aside and lets the primal force rise free from any filters or shames. Affection (Cariño) displays a game in which all the prospective relationships among the characters test women’s masculine sides and men’s feminine ones raising questions about the genre roles. This excessive binding world is portrayed in several languages with a modus operandi Mayra Bonard brings from her experience in El Descueve: a play emerging from powerful images and intuitions; a sensory story resembling an unconscious part. Rock photography, electronic music, contemporary dancing, songs, theaters, words, diverse genres and tones… all get combined with a sense of humor intending to place on stage a visual image repository bringing the audience closer to a naked emotions intense and contradictory universe.
