Description

In Rewound Man (Hombre rebobinado) there are no bodies on stage and nevertheless the stage performance occurs. This new Margarita Bali piece debuted at the VI Festival Buenos Aires Danza Contemporánea in 2010; it is a virtual theatrical and choreographic play which is developed by means of a video installation resorting to eight projectors that show images –virtual bodies– over multiple real scenographic elements. Characters apparently have three dimensions and are “engraved” in the furniture, chairs, frames and walls volumes. Bali’s objective in this work was to generate in the audience a strangeness sensation and a joint perception of reality and virtuality bearing in mind that the body presence impression exists despite bodies not being made of “flesh and bones” but just a group of dots on the screen. By setting this device on stage, the choreographer displays a tragicomic story in which words and movement play with the absurd, humor and a swing between fantasy and reality.
