Description

Aiming at converting an ordinary space into a stage to investigate new narrative options and theatrical distribution unusual ways, A Hole (Un hueco) creators visited for months several district clubs around the city trying to dodge stages, amphitheaters and assembly halls. In order to carry out this experience, they chose one of the wardrobes of the iconic Club Estrella de Maldonado placed in Palermo District. There, into a limited space accommodating eighteen people, the spectator can spy through a key lock hollow into a private moment: an intimate instant between three male friends who shared their childhood and adolescence in a town 500 kilometers away from Buenos Aires. Entrenching themselves into the local club wardrobe, the three witness the forth musketeer mourning. One of them currently lives in Buenos Aires and has come back for the occasion, other tried to go to the capital city to study though he didn’t come along with the big city; on the other hand, the third one has never left the small town. Behind the door, there is a reception area with a second-rate catering service, waitresses serve coffee; there is ambience music and some old town ladies. They hide away to be left alone and get reunited. Amidst anecdotes, shouts and some occasional drunkenness, they all cope with pain in their own terms. A Hole combines universal themes (death) as well as local ones thus vividly portraying small town life and above all, it dares enter the male universe with deep sincerity, humor and harshness.
