Marc Ducret

Biography

Guitarist Marc Ducret was born in Paris, France, in 1957. As a musician, he is interested in a wide range of styles and instruments: acoustic and electric 12-string guitars, lutes, fretless and baritone guitars. He played in the first National Jazz Orchestra in France in 1986. He has performed with Larry Schneider, David Friedmann, Michel Portal, Joaquín Kuhn, Ambrosetti Franco, Didier Lockwood, Eric Barret, Miroslav Vitous, Enrico Rava, Adam Nussbaum, Django Bates, David Sanborn, Joey Baron, Godard Michel, among other prominent musicians. Since 1991, Ducret has been collaborating with sax player Tim Berne. In 1992, he created his own band Seven Songs from the Sixties, which explores pop music of said decade. He regularly plays with Louis Sclavis and Dominique Pifarely’s Acoustic Quartet. He has collaborated with the band AKA Moon, in a duo with percussionist Bobby Previte and with the Latin for Travelers quartet. His interest in theater and literature led him to record Qui Parle? (Sketch), an album in which voices and music, text and rhythm are especially interwoven. Another of his works, Happy Together, was commissioned by the city of Bobigny and is a tribute to the 40th anniversary of May 1968. Other projects include Chantier III, Pour Mémoire and Tower, with music inspired by Nabokov’s Ada or Ardor: A Family Chronicle. He regularly travels to perform and conduct master classes worldwide.
