FRANCIS ANDREU (uruguay)'s biography

FRANCIS ANDREU (uruguay)

The young Uruguayan singer Francis Andreu revolutionized the tango scene on the opposite banks with her fresh arrabalero style that relates her with Adriana Varela and, by transitive property, with the Argentine singer’s artistic beacon, the Polaco Goyeneche. When she was barely 20 years old, Francis was distinguished with the Premio Iris, a breakthrough award granted by El País de Montevideo newspaper in 2004. Thanks to her self-confidence and passion for singing tango classics, she was the female voice of the concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montevideo, Galas de Tango, at the Solís Theater in April 2007, where she performed “La cumparsita.” Today, with her first album under her belt, she will perform at the Festival accompanied by guitarists Guzmán Mendaro and Poli Rodríguez.
