Atilio Stampone Quinteto's biography

Atilio Stampone Quinteto

For over half a century, Atilio Stampone has brought a refreshing perspective to the music of Buenos Aires with his different projects. He was a pianist in Astor Piazzolla’s typical orchestra in 1946 and part of Octeto Buenos Aires in 1955. He also had his own orchestra jointly with Leopoldo Federico in the ‘50s, to name just a few career highlights. A teacher of diverse generations, he authored memorable pieces like “Afiches” or “Mi amigo Cholo,” included in the repertoire for his acoustic concert, jointly with “Responso,” “Silbando” and “Taconeando.” At the Festival, he will lead his quintet made up of Carlos Buono (bandoneon), Guillermo Ferrer (double bass), Matías Grande (violin) and Miguel Ángel Irazu (guitar), with Luis Filipelli as guest singer.
