For 40 years, actor Rolando Chaves has sworn that there existed a recording of Gardel singing in English. Until in the mid ‘70s, the finding of an LP cleared out the doubts: indeed, that version (“Cheating muchachita,” a fairly well-done translation of “Amargura”) was real. Till today, collectors and researchers persist to believe that there is a hidden discography waiting to come to light.
