Synopsis

Born in the United States during the Seventies, Contact Improvisation is a form of dance that stimulates body contact in order to create spontaneous movements with no direction other than the very will to transcend the mechanical forms of everyday actions. That group improvisation that goes along with no predetermined choreography and works just like jam sessions of jazz music, is the world Mariana Lifschitz portrays here. Buenos Aires is one of the world’s main spots for Contact Improvisation, and Permission to Dance shows local dancers in complete use of their physical and mental abilities. Because, although this dance doesn´t have any direction that might discipline its body movement, it does have its own philosophy, which involves a whole way of thinking the displacement and relation of the bodies in today´s society, and favors a bigger awareness of physical potentialities. And those bodies in the search for liberating torsions are what constitute this documentary.
