Synopsis

Well known for the animations he made for Frank Zappa –in whose film Baby Snakes he explained his vision in a somewhat incoherent way– Bruce Bickford lives enclosed in his Seattle home, producing complicated clay animations like this one, the only one he considers to be finished and the only one he still has the rights of. In theory, this is an adaptation of the myth of Prometheus, who created man out of mud and stole the fire from the gods, for which Zeus would punish him by putting him in chains so an eagle would slowly eat his liver. In the Bickford version, this involves a bizarre compilation of places and characters in constant transformation with tortures, huge battles, and monsters who amaze the spectator for a few seconds before turning into, for example, a pizza. In short, brevity doesn´t keep Prometheus Garden from being the craziest film in this Bafici. And, for those wanting to go deep into Bickford territory, you should see the documentary Monster Road (also screened in this edition of the festival).
