Synopsis

You should know: there aren´t many flowers here. The title is a metaphor: this is a documentary about vulvas. To be more precisely, it’s about the book that photographer and sexologist Nick Karras dedicates to them. The provocative but simple idea is to make a tribute to the most sensitive part of the female anatomy. Getting the models to accept posing and show “that” involves setting aside decades of embarrassment, even if their faces don’t appear in the book. Here, some of them dare to talk about their feelings, which are contrasted with experts in female sexuality, from the strictly clinical to the genre perspective (Betty Dodson wanders around, a restless defender of the right to experience pleasure and the author of a classic book about masturbation). As a result, the candor of the testimonies demonstrates the repression and concealment, which create myths and traumas many women never heard of.
