Synopsis

A record of life in the circus could almost be regarded by now as a documentary sub-genre. But this film has a unique attractive, even for those who are not keen on the circus world and all its misfortunes: its main character. Babooska not only gives the film its title, he also creates his own universe around him, one that is inhabited by the different characters that make up his real family, as well as his other one, the “family” of the Floricicco circus (“young, modern, and dynamic” as it is promoted through the speakers of a rundown car). Apart from the problems these companies usually endure (mostly financial, but also, for example, the dismembering of its structure). Babooska also experiences his own kind. And he observes everything with a rather sad, melancholic eye; but also with a strength that helps him get over it and move on together with the caravan and the animals, heading forward to the next town.
