Synopsis

Original Title: Das ist alles

Many people are familiar with Yásnaya Polyana because it’s the region where Russian writer Leon Tolstoi was born and also his place of residence. But it is also where many people from other regions –like Siberia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan– migrated to in search for better living conditions. Narrated in first person by its own protagonists, That’s All (which right from its title presents an idea of closure) is the recount of a bunch of lives that, even when they’re nowhere near the end, are in a good position to look back and remember: wide and firm women who cook as naturally as they breath, and make music with only a bottle and a spoon; and men who work the land with a teenage passion and are moved by the memory of their war experiences. They are all peasants, who share their intimate moments and invite you to picture other of carrying on with life.
