Synopsis

Ever since its first edition in 1971, the Roskilde Music Festival has been growing continuously and is now one of the main festivals in Europe. For four days in July, around a hundred thousand people set their tents near this millenary Danish town with a Viking vibe; they listen to some music in several stages, drink whatever someone offer them, and run around naked. This official –yet not officious- rockumentary sets up a kind of panoptic perspective: it follows around members of the audience, the organizers in the backstage –who dare to talk about that dark night in 2000 when nine fans died of asphyxiation while watching a Pear Jam show– and a parade of artists who recently played there: Sonic Youth, Placebo, Rufus Wainwright, The Streets, Franz Ferdinand and an etcetera too long to describe here. The reason: Ulrik Wivel spent eight years (!) filming these four days of partying. This film gives you a hangover.
