Synopsis
For many people, the December 25th celebration is not a happy one, and neither it is a merry occasion for the three main characters in Lelio’s second film, among whom there’s a huge sadness and yet also a strong life force. It’s clear that something’s wrong when Aurora and Ale (18 years…and sweethearts?) burst into that house located at the foot of the mountains, where she once lived and now her mother now has sold with everything in it, including furniture and its many memories. She’s there with the excuse of recovering some of his dead father’s records. But then, Aurora’s fifteen year-old cousin Alicia shows up, running from home and searching for her father, whom she never met. From then on, the three will only have each other, as orphans, each one in its own way, maybe just like all those people who were born after the return of democracy in Chile –there, in the background, you can hear Victor Jara. All three are looking for the comfort they need to endure a long night of frustrations, uncertainty, and intertwined desires, which might be the ones of an entire generation.
