Born in Chillán, Chile, in 1971, he majored in Journalism at the University of Chile before moving to New York to study Filmmaking. He worked as a film critic and photographer, and directed music videos. He directed the shorts Desde lejos (2006) and Lo que trae la lluvia (2007), among others, and the feature film, Huacho (2009).
