Synopsis
The story takes place in a family home and its surroundings, in a residential neighborhood near Ruhr. The mother, Claudia, (a stunning performance by Natja Brunckhorst) and the father, Wolfgang, seem not to care too much about their children: Nicole, a fifteen year old, and Jürgen, who is only six. Each and every one of them are lost in their own melancholic derail. Fiona, an extremely fragile 23 year old maid, is hired through the Internet and starts working in this unique habitat. It isn’t hard to predict that the way they relate with each other will change once Fiona arrives. However, unlike the splendid guest Terence Stamp composed in Pasolini’s Theorem, Fiona’s character will not have such a charm. In this movie, the family is an entity capable of destroying foreign beings. With a simple and direct tone that contains disruptive elements, Jessica Krummacher achieves in her first film moments of intriguing ambiguity.
