Synopsis
When her family decides to move away, Laure has the chance to start over. Nobody knows her, and in her first contact with someone her own age, she chooses to present herself as Michael. From then on, she experiments and lives a part of her life as a boy. When she’s at home, she’s little Jeanne’s older sister, but other times she’s just another boy in the group of neighborhood kids with whom she plays soccer, fights, spits, and even sparks the attention of Lisa. Repeating this same structure indoors, her mother seems to totally deny what is happening while her much more permeable father goes along with Laure/Michael’s decision in a somewhat tacit manner. A new self is created during that summer, and she goes from being an unfeminine girl (a tomboy) to being a different person, a full he. Once she achieves that, she will make use of some home-made resources and give free rein to the possibility of exploring herself and, ultimately, search for her own identity.
