Synopsis
Like a modern, misunderstood, and prophetic Sherezade, Cassandra tells several stories. It’s basically the story of a woman who goes deep inside the Impenetrable jungle in Chaco and triggers another trip, a journey inside herself. And in these paths she takes photos, questions herself, makes interviews, and shapes up a story, wonders, and writes. “It’s all a question of framing”, says Cozarinsky, as he plays one of the people interviewed and draws the essence of the film. Cassandra focuses its meaning in its framings, in the way the director gets closer and farther away from its materials, in the subtle way she edits and cuts the images, in the placement of bodies inside the shots. All in all, in that we can see and that we can’t. But the film also deals with the close connection between time and space, continuity and impermanence, attention and movement. This way, it also becomes a sharp reflection on cinema and its meanings, its constituent materials, its ambiguities.
