Synopsis

With a firm foot on experimental tradition, Hirsch made several documentaries in which she recorded her everyday life devoted to creativity on different artistic fronts. They were marked by a head-on aesthetics and undoubtedly influenced by the urgency of the New Latin American Documentary: we should mention that both Raymundo Gleyzer and Gerardo Vallejo –key figures of Argentine political cinema– served as camera operators for her works. Marabunta, Retrato de una artista como ser humano and Manzanas both document Hirsch’s main artistic performances in public spaces during the 1960s, which made a mark in the art scene of the time. On the other hand, Pink Freud, Pioneros and, in its own way, Come Out (possibly Hirsch’s most famous short) suggest different ways to approach reality, and include an advanced poetic freedom.
