Bio

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, in 1936, he worked as a film critic for Jornal do Brasil for over twenty years. He wrote books on Brazilian and Latin American cinema, such as O cinema dilacerado (1986), Glauber Rocha, garabato de pájaro (2002) and O chão da palavra, cinema e literatura no Brasil (2007). He was a cultural director for Embrafilme, Vice President of Fipresci, and head of the distribution company Riofilme. He’s currently the representative of Berlinale in Brazil and is in charge of programming at the Moreira Salles Institute in Rio de Janeiro.
