Synopsis

Mothers-in-law Laura and María Luisa are from the same generation but opposite social classes, and they form the infinite folds of these wonderful documentary. Two women who suffered the disappearance of their children during the last military dictatorship, although one was lucky enough to get her daughter back, and the other one didn’t. From a lucid and sensitive observation, Germán Scelso –filmmaker and grandson of the two– gets into a dialog that goes through the somewhat more eloquent features of history, the ones history itself won’t narrate: different gestures, ways, forms, and sensibilities, according to the social class they belong to. In those gestures you can read much more than the present and the past. You can see the idea that identity transcends any ability to tell a story, that history is not a unity, and that even in its multiplicity it can feature sensible folds and nuances on which a longitudinal cut wouldn’t make sense. The only way to find its truths would be by insights in the form of diagonals, curves, and, even better, unknown shapes.
