Synopsis
The title refers to you-know-what, and both the winks and the polished images of the film carry references that are not just possible, but inevitable. Yet this is above all a film by Ernesto Díaz, just like the previous ones. And as such, the story of the untamable Machine Gun Woman, whose head has the highest price in the market, makes stops on each one of the filmmaker’s obsessions, which by now we should start to call manners: a heroine depicted with delight and from the insides of crime endorsement, plus the sentimental education that implies learning to empathize with both the title’s mercenary and the film itself. Because ED’s cinema is no joke, even if sometimes looks that way, nor a massive dosage of bullets and big trouble produced on this side of the world –which would be enough for us to worship it. There’s more, a plus that is related to its handicraft effort, a love for the genre, and an endless care for the creatures ED puts in play. Definitely a rarity. MP
