Synopsis
Three essential bands in the renovation of traditionally American music –Old Crow Medicine Show, the paradoxically British Mumford and Sons, and indie-folk heroes Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros– started a tour in April 2011 on board of an old train that was reconditioned for the occasion like a huge and vibrant rehearse studio. With only six stops (and as many outdoor shows, always on the side of the tracks) along the thousands of kilometers between California and New Orleans, Big Easy Express focuses almost solely in the songs of its talented crew, which never seems to rest (or shower a lot, as someone confesses). Chased by Malloy camera’s through day and night –but mostly under the relentless sun of Southern deserts– that sweaty music community moves on fueled by pure (cross) country music, towards a spine-chilling, epic and jubilant final destination: more than twenty people on the stage performing a cover of “This Train Is Bound for Glory” everyone will wish it never ends.
