Bio

Mariano Saba (Buenos Aires, 1980) holds a teaching and BA degree with honors in Letters (UBA) and is the recipient of a CONICET doctoral fellowship. As an actor, he received his training fromAgustínAlezzo, Julio Chávez and Ricardo Bartís. Some of the productions in which he appeared includeEl duende (2000), El reñidero (2002), La colección (2003) and Basavilbaso (2010). He graduated from the Dramaturgy program atEscuelaMetropolitana de Arte Dramático, where he studied with Mauricio Kartun, Alejandro Tantanián, Luis Cano and Ignacio Apolo, among others. Together with Andrés Binetti, he wrote Trilogía Argentina Amateur, composed of La patria fría, Después del aire and Al servicio de la comunidad. La patria fría won the Contest of Theatre Projects in FIBA 2011, a mention at the National Dramaturgy Competition (INT), and the following awards: Teatro XXI (GETEA-UBA), as Best Dramatic Work by a National Author, and Teatro del Mundo (C.C.Rojas-UBA), for Best Dramaturgy. For his piece Madrijo (toda la tristeza del mundo), he received theGermánRozenmacher Award for New Dramaturgy from FIBA 2011 and the Centro Cultural Rojas (UBA). In 2012, among other recognitions, he won the second prize at the “Estampas de la Argentina actual” competition, organized by Teatro El Popular, for Un mundoflotante; the first prize at the National Playwriting Competition (INT) for Lógica del naufragio; and the first prize at the 1st University Dramaturgy Competition "Roberto Arlt" (IUNA/ Argentores) for El vuelo de la mosca. He currently serves as assistant director to Ricardo Bartísin the new production of Sportivo Teatral: La máquina idiota.
