Today at 1 PM in the hall of the Teatro San Martín, the company Combinado Argentino de Danza directed by Andrea Servera performs "Tu casa. Rituales de pasaje" with free admission. The set was constructed by the group based on an idea of central action: what belongs to the self and what belongs to the other, diversity and collective creation. And in the afternoon, at the Meeting Point - Salón Real (Sarmiento 1272), there will be two discussions coordinated by the Danza en Acción Forum: "Contemporary Philosophical Perspectives on Movement and Corporeality" at 2.30 PM, featuring Esteban García, Hernán Inverso, Cintia Mariscal, Pamela Abellón and Andrés Fortunato; and "Reflections for a National Dance Law" at 7 PM, featuring Mariela Ruggieri, Eugenia Schwartzman, Lliana Tasso, Marisa Quintela and Maximiliano Avila. In both cases, admission is free.

Serbian performer Marina Abramovic and Italian playwright Romeo Castellucci will be featured in the movies showing today, Sunday, as part of the “Films” section. The documentary “Marina Abramovic. The Artist Is Present”, on the life and work of the Serbian artist who uses her own body as a vehicle for art, will be screened at 4 PM. The documentary features her testimony and takes a look at many of her famous performances, including the one she put on at MOMA in New York in 2010 and lasted for 176 hours and 30 minutes, which gave the name to this film, as part of an extensive retrospective of her work. Sitting quietly in a chair and staring at each visitor, Abramovic tested their various reactions as well as her own concentration and endurance. Romeo Castellucci’s Inferno-Purgatorio-Paradiso trilogy, freely inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, will be screened next. “Inferno”, the first part of the trilogy, is at 6.30 PM. And the second and third parts, “Purgatorio – Paradiso”, are shown at 8.30 PM. Tickets for these films can be picked up at the box office (a maximum of 2 per person) 2 hours before show time.

LAST CHANCE TO SEE “SHEDA” 12 October 2013

Foto

Those who have already seen it are still talking about the dazzling performance. Those who haven’t and want to know why there is so much buzz about it have their last chance to see it today, Saturday, at 6.30 PM at the Anfiteatro de Parque Centenario. “Shéda”, the work written by and starring Congolese dramatist Dieudonné Niangouna and the company Les Bruits de la Rue, is stunning in every sense of the word. “This time, Dieudonné Niangouna wanted to make a comprehensive work to embrace the world and its madness. He puts the story in the light of a current pressing need, the need of a poverty-stricken Africa struggling to find the voice of democracy. His activist theatre is not afraid of anything,” wrote Emmanuelle Bouchez for the website Telerama.fr – a quote urging readers not to miss this production: to attend the show, pick up your ticket (a maximum of 2 per person) 2 hours before the performance.
