Cine y Jazz
Just like any film program, Cinema & Jazz’s emerges from the combination of what is desirable, possible and the randomness that leads us to interesting material we hadn’t thought about. This year it was conceived in such a way that white is the predominant color. We have a documentary about the evolution of British blues featuring a group of young blond rock stars-to-be imitating – and pretending to be like – their black heroes, bringing them a much-deserved international attention. There is also a fiction movie where an Australian trumpeter endeavors to meet his idol, who is none other than Miles Davis. Also, based on this year’s visiting artists, we have selected two documentaries to get to know two of them better: one is Dutch and retired; the other is young and Danish. Last, a film about an Argentine artist who was a frequent guest to our Festival and is no longer with us: the great Walter Malosetti, a local pioneer of a colorless, borderless jazz.
