Synopsis

Guitarist Tomás Fraga was born in Buenos Aires in March 1989. He has studied guitar, harmony and improvisation with Marcelo Mayor, theory and harmony with Manolo Juárez, and is currently attending the Composition program at Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte (IUNA). He is the son of long-standing jazz pianist Manuel Fraga. He has performed extensively at bars, theatres and festivals in Buenos Aires, as well as in various cities of Argentina and abroad. Ever since his debut, he has played with prominent artists of the

national and international scene. Pianist and composer Abel Rogantini was born in Buenos Aires in September 1969. Since his debut with the Semblanza trio in 1990, he has been intensively active playing with musicians of all genres. He has performed in numerous concerts, tours and on 50 recordings of various bands and styles. He released his debut album as a trio leader on PAI in 2007, including all original material. One of its pieces, “Candombinho”, was recorded by El Arranque orchestra at the Paris Tango Festival, while “Milonguinha”, another one of his pieces, was premiered by Paquito D’Rivera at the Jazz at Lincoln Center. In parallel, he teaches at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda (EMPA) and Escuela de Arte Leopoldo Marechal. He has studied with Fred Hersch, Bruce Barth and Mulgrew Miller. Born in Cruz Alta, Córdoba, musician Sebastián Loiácono began to study sax at the age of 16 with Berklee graduate Julio Kobryn in the city of Rosario. He later pursued further studies at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory, where he took classes with Pepi Taveira, Carlos Lastra, Paula Shocron and Ernesto Jodos, among others, in addition to private sax and ensemble lessons with George Garzone. He recorded What’s New (Mariano Loiácono), Warm Valley (Paula Shocron-Mariano Loiácono) and Hot House (Mariano Loiácono). He currently plays in Mariano Loiácono’s quintet and nonet and leads his own quintet. Born in Buenos Aires in 1975, drummer and percussionist Diego Alejandro studied with

Roberto “Júnior” Césari from 1990 to 1999. He took masterclasses with Casey Scheuerell (Berklee) in 1994 and folk music classes at the university of Curitiba in 2000. He has studied percussion and Latin American music language with Yeye López. He has recorded and

performed for many jazz musicians as well as accompanied a long list of artists including Dino Saluzzi, Lito Vitale, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Liliana Herrero, Javier Malosetti, Carlos Aguirre, Juan Quintero, Mariana Baraj, Verónica Condomí, Lisandro Aristimuño, Franco Luciani and Sandra Mihanovich. He also leads his own band.
