Carto Brandán

He was born in Escobar (Buenos Aires province) in 1978. He began banging the drums at age 12 and then, once established in Buenos Aires, studied at the Escuela de Música Contemporánea (Berklee International Network Argentina), including studies in harmony and audio perception. Since 2002, Ernesto Jodos, Hernán Merlo and Marcelo Gutfraind have helped him steer his career.
He toured Europe extensively in 2002 alongside Fernando Tarrés’s band, Arida Conta. Later on, in April 2003, he toured Mexico with Luis Nacht’s quartet. In November 2004 he also toured the United States, appearing in New York and Miami together with several bands, on a tour organised by the label BAU Records.
He has recorded with Mariano Otero, Eleonora Eubel, Ricardo Cavalli, Juan Pablo Arredondo, Fernando Tarrés and Luis Nacht, among many other artists, and shared the stage with most of the jazz musicians of the local scene, including Diego Urcola, Carlos Franzetti, Conrad Herwig, Hernán Merlo, Ernesto Jodos, Marcelo Gutfraind, Quinteto Urbano, Paula Shocron, Rodrigo Domínguez and Gustavo Bergalli.
