Pipi Piazzolla

Born in 1972, Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla, the grandson of Astor, boasts an over 15-year professional career. His very personal style has made him a highly sought-after drummer by artists of the most diverse styles and profiles. A student of the legendary Oso Picardi and a graduate from the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and the Drummers Collective in New York, he took lessons with, among others, Tommy Campbell, Robie Ameen and Adam Nusbaum. He has shared the stage with numerous top-notch jazzmen, including Chick Corea, Danilo Pérez, Gary Burton, Bill McHenry, Luis Bonilla, Miguel Zenón and the Arturo O’Farrill Afro Latin Jazz Big Band. He has also performed with Lito Vitale, Maza Trío, Sabrosas Zarigüellas, Giusti Funk Corp, Latinaje and, at present, with Juan Cruz de Urquiza Cuarteto, Argentos, Guillermo Klein, Carlos Cutaia, Inmigrantes Big Band, Villu Veski Titt Kaluste Sextet (Estonia), Pablo Aslán (New York), Nicolás Sorín and Esteban Sehinknam. He is a founding member of Escalandrum, with which he recorded several albums, toured Latin America and Europe and received the Platinum Konex award in 2005. Worthy of mention among the numerous honours he received are the mention of Best Drummer of Latin Rhythms by the Musicians Institute in 1993 and the ACE award in 1996 for his work in Octeto Daniel Piazzolla.
