Diego Urbano

Diego Urbano, a vibraphonist born in 1986, studied percussion at the Universidad de Chile, where he performed with the prestigious percussion ensemble Rythmus. In 2003, he began appearing at the Club de Jazz de Santiago, a favourite venue for traditional musicians. By 2005 he was already among the most sought-after sidemen, performing with musicians from traditional as well as modern jazz. He has participated in jazz festivals throughout Chile. At present, he lives in Buenos Aires, where he was summoned by pianist Ernesto Jodos to record his quintet album, El jardín seco (Sony, 2009), winner of the Gardel Award 2009 for Best Jazz Album. Urbano was also involved in other projects and formed his own trio, which was greeted with great praise in the local scene.
