Steve Cárdenas, the Festival’s “resident” musician

Steve Cárdenas, músico “residente” del Festival

American guitarist and composer Steve Cárdenas, the “resident” musician of the section entitled “Gatherings”, will give three concerts along with an ensemble from the Manuel de Falla conservatory, made up of advanced students. They will take place on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 at 10pm at Café Vinilo (Gorriti 3780, Palermo), and on Sunday 6 at 10.30 at Club Lounge (Reconquista 974, Downtown). The tickets for these unrepeatable shows are already on sale at www.festivales.gob.ar or in person Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm at Casa de la Cultura (Av. de Mayo 575) and Teatro 25 de Mayo (Av. Triunvirato 4444).

All three occasions will reveal an attractive dynamics: showing at night the work produced by day between a renowned international musician and young up and comers of the Argentine music. Cardenas is a quintessential figure of the New York jazz scene, be it as a sideman to Eddie Harris, Marilyn Maye, Jay Mc Shann and Slide Hampton, as a guest of Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux and John Patitucci among others, alongside the Paul Motian Octet +1, Charlie Haden Liberation Music Orchestra, Killer Joey and Ben Allison Quartet, or with his trio. This will be the first time he performs in Buenos Aires and it constitutes, without doubt, an excellent opportunity to appreciate his talent in the flesh.
