The City pulsates with good music

La buena música cubre la ciudad

Buenos Aires Jazz.09 has plenty to offer on Friday, including free concerts throughout the length and breadth of Buenos Aires: different venues and times, the same top-notch quality. From 6pm the traditional season “Jazzología” features the Creole Jazz Band and the great Fats Fernández alongside Pablo Raposo on the roof terrace of Centro Cultural Recoleta. Also there but from 8pm, within the “Open Air” section, it will be the turn of remarkable singer Sofía Rei Koutsovitis (photo) accompanied by Argentine musicians Federico Dannemann, Ezequiel Dutil, Cristian Judurcha and Facundo Guevara. Later today, from 9pm, the legendary Jorge Navarro Trío will take over.

A little further north in the City, at Teatro Sarmiento from 8pm the season “Jazz at the Zoo” will spring to life with the band Jue’ Mandinga, Delfina Oliver Cuarteto and Demogli-Motta-Giunta Trío. But that’s not all: at La Trastienda (San Telmo), from 8.30pm, the Fernando Tarrés Noneto will perform their “Tribute to Astor Piazzolla” within the section “Commissions”. And at 11.30pm, Gillespi & friends will round off a jazz-packed day with a jam session, a must in every successful festival.
