Commissions from the Festival

The “commissions” are a hallmark of Buenos Aires Jazz and this year, in its second edition, the Festival summoned outstanding Argentine artists to compose, produce and perform unique works based on a particular topic. This year, Buenos Aires Jazz.09 presents Fernando Tarrés (photo) and his nonet paying tribute to Astor Piazzolla; musician Diego Schissi alongside choreographers Ana Garat and Pilar Beamonte in “Tongos, canciones y líquidos (jazz & dance)”; the Tango Jazz Club featuring Néstor Marconi, Gustavo Bergalli, Carlos Franzetti and Pablo Aslán; and Ernesto Jodos and his sextet delivering “La música del Gato Barbieri”.

All these shows are unrepeatable: they have been conceived in order to be presented at the Festival, though, of course, they will be recorded and eventually featured on an album. From Friday 4 to Monday 7, always at 8.30pm at La Trastienda, we can delight in top-notch music performed by greats of the genre.
