Este lunes a las 21 h en Samsung Studio de San Telmo, se presentarán el guitarrista argentino Armando Alonso al frente de su trío y el contrabajista catalán Renaud García-Fons y el cuarteto La Línea del Sur, integrado por grandes músicos como el guitarrista Kiko Ruiz, el baterista Pascal Rollando y el acordeonista David Venitucci. Un rato después, desde las 22 h se concretarán los “cruces” de este lunes 6 en Café Vinilo y Notorious, dedicados al encuentro chileno-argentino: en Vinilo serán protagonistas los chilenos Sebastián Jordan, Agustín Moya junto al trío del pianista argentino Francisco Lo Vuolo; en Notorious, subirán a escena Lautaro Quevedo, Eduardo Peña y Felix Lecaros acompañados por los locales Marcelo Gutfraind y Carlos Michelini. Las entradas para estos tres espectáculos están a la venta –a un valor de 40 pesos para ver a García-Fons, y a 20 para los cruces-- en la página web www.festivales.gob.ar o bien se pueden adquirir en la Casa de la Cultura (Av. de Mayo 575) y en el CCC Teatro 25 de Mayo (Av. Triunvirato 4444), hasta las 19 h.

El baterista, percusionista, compositor y educador Barry Altschul dictará una clínica de batería este martes a las 14 h en el Café Vinilo de Palermo, como parte de la sección pedagógica “El aula” que propone el Festival. La entrada, a un valor de 40 pesos, está a la venta en internet en www.festivales.gov.ar. “Un artista debe tener un sólido vocabulario musical para tomar decisiones, para estar preparado para tocar cualquier estilo que el concepto requiera. En el mejor de los sentidos, debe convertir el pasado en el futuro”, declaró este músico con una trayectoria que recorre varias décadas, participaciones en grabaciones y festivales de primer nivel mundial y horas de cátedra en distintas instituciones educativas.

El trompetista Diego Urcola (foto) , residente en Nueva York desde hace 19 años, junto a su cuarteto, el pianista Federico Lechner con el suyo y acompañado por el armoniquista Franco Luciano –ambos radicados en Madrid--, serán los protagonistas en la noche del martes de la sección “Repatriados” del Festival. El espectáculo comenzará a las 20.30 h en La Trastienda Club de San Telmo, con entrada libre y gratuita: el ingreso es por orden de llegada y sujeto a la capacidad de la sala.

The Brazilian duet formed by the pianist Gilson Peranzzetta and the sax player Mauro Senise, and the awaited “solopiano” by the Uruguayan Hugo Fattorusso (picture) will be performing this Sunday night at the beautiful Centro Cultural Cine Teatro 25 de Mayo in Villa Urquiza, from 9 PM on. The program of Buenos Aires Jazz.10 scheduled for this spring Sunday at the Recoleta, offers free quality concerts at Patio del Aljibe and the Terrace, the avant-premiere of the documentary “A pulmón” -by Martín Bidau- about the Argentine sax player Carlos Lastra (picture) and a “surprise” show (see below). Music starts at 5 PM at Patio del Aljibe with the band Elefante, and continues at 6 PM with the quintet led by the sax player Ramiro Flores. At the same time, "Jazzology" presents at the Terrace the trio led by the guitarist Ricardo Pellican, and later on the performing of Delta Jazz Band (at 7 PM). The big closing of the Terrace’s stage will be at 8 PM with the performing of Agustín Pereyra Lucena and Beto Caletti, probably the most Brazilians of the Argentine musicians in the local scene. They will be presenting their “Homenaje a Tom Jobim."

Siete recitales gratuitos en el Recoleta es una oferta difícil de rechazar. Desde las 17 h en el Patio del Aljibe y la Terraza del Centro Cultural habrá buena música por escuchar, nuevos artistas por descubrir y clásicos de la escena local. Por el patio, pasarán el quinteto del saxofonista y clarinetista Alejandro Chiabrando, el cuarteto que lideran la cantante Marta Bellomo y el guitarrista Alejandro Moro y el grupo de free jazz La Cornetita junto al cornetista y pianista Enrique Norris (foto). Y en el escenario de la Terraza, con una hermosa vista de la Ciudad como escenografía, estarán Nave Camaleón Trío, Roberto Catarineu Trío, la cantante argentina Belén Perez Muñiz y su repertorio brasileño, y a las 21 h el cuarteto que lidera Juan Cruz Urquiza. Un menú abundante para el jazzero consumado y para quien se acerca con curiosidad a esta música fascinante.

The ovation provoked by the debut of the remarkable Italian pianist Enrico Pieranunzi (picture) at the Festival, boosts the expectations for his next performances. Tuesday afternoon at 5 PM, he will be performing at the Casacuberta hall, Teatro San Martin, in an awaited “solopiano”, and on Wednesday at Teatro Coliseo, at the Festival closing, to present his project “Fellini Jazz”. Este sábado es el primer día a plena actividad en el Festival con recitales gratuitos y demás actividades en el Centro Cultural Recoleta. A las 15 h en el Patio del Aljibe, el grupo Rey Tambor liderado por Hugo Fatturusso dará una clínica gratuita sobre tambores. A las 17 h en el mismo patio, se presentará el sexteto que lidera el joven contrabajista Juan Bayon y a las 18 h, será el turno de la cantante Marian Fossati (foto). A la misma hora, en el escenario de la Terraza, estará la cantante Alejandra Martin acompañada por Ricardo Lew, Juan Pablo Navarro y Luis Ceravolo. Y en el microcine del Centro Cultural, se proyectará el documental “Charlie Haden: Rambling boy”, de Reto Cafuff.

Buenos Aires Jazz.10 started on Friday night with two amazing concerts in a crowded Teatro Coliseo. First, Frank Carlberg and Christine Correa and then Mingus Dynasty provoked applauses of admiration and approval. Furthermore there was a standing ovation at the end of the show given by the septet that pays tribute to the great Charles Mingus. It was a deserved prize for the energy and virtuosity that these seven musicians put on stage. It was a night to enjoy with good music, according to the audience attending to the opening concert, glad to have witnessed two brilliant performances. This is a summary of the great opening of six days of pure jazz in Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires Jazz.10 will start this Friday at 8:30 AM with an extraordinary opening concert at Teatro Coliseo, with Frank Carlberg-Christine Correa and Mingus Dynasty. The “Crossings” will start at 10 PM at Café Vinilo and Notorious, an original experience that proposes the encounter among acclaimed international musicians with a select group of Argentine instrumentalists. Tonight, Phil Maturano will play featuring Alejandro Demogli, Pablo Motta and Cirilo Fernández at Café Vinilo in Palermo; Barry Altschul will be playing with Ernesto Jodos, Gerónimo Carmona, Rodrigo Domínguez and Sergio Wagner at Notorious in Barrio Norte.
