Six days with the participation of 150 artists and 35 thousand spectators in 60 shows and other activities carried out in 7 venues is a positive outcome for Buenos Aires Jazz.10, the event that closed the calendar of festivals that Buenos Aires has as part of its attractive cultural offer for Buenos Aires City residents as well as Argentine and foreign tourists. A festival that presented great international figures such as the pianists Enrico Pieranunzi, Frank Carlberg and Hugo Fattorusso, the singer Christine Correa, the double-bass player Renaud García-Fons (picture) and the band The Avengers led by Adam Holzman, among others. Together with these artists, many young and well known Argentine artists such as Ernesto Jodos, Diego Urcola, Fernando Tarrés, Gillespi and Ramiro Flores shared the stage.

Concluyó Buenos Aires Jazz.10, con dos recitales en paralelo, en ámbitos cercanos de la geografía porteña. En el Recoleta, Gillespi y su nueva banda cerró una jornada intensa de música en el Patio del Aljibe y la Terraza del Centro Cultural. Cerca de ahí, en el Teatro Coliseo, el exquisito pianista italiano Enrico Pieranunzi presentó, a sala llena, su proyecto “Fellini Jazz” basado en las músicas que Nino Rota y el argentino Luis Bacalov compusieron para películas del notable cineasta. Ambos espectáculos, tanto como los más de 100 presentados a lo largo de 6 días de jazz, reafirmaron el concepto de calidad que el Festival propone: 35 mil personas en total, lo disfrutaron.

Frank Carlberg’s show with his quintet originally programmed for Tuesday at the CCC Teatro 25 de Mayo, will take place this Wednesday at 3.30 PM at the Terrace stage of the Centro Cultural Recoleta. The most important thing is that it will be of free admission. Those who purchased tickets for the original date --Carlberg + Sebastián Jordan Quintet-- and need to get their money back must go to the Hard Rock Café from Thursday the 9th until Friday the 17th from 12 PM to 7 PM.

This Tuesday at 5 PM at the Recoleta Terrace, Fernando Tarrés (picture) -the leader of his sextet- will present “Todo Buenos Aires”, record of his tribute to Astor Piazzola’s work, commissioned by the Festival in 2009. He will be playing along with Damián Bolotin (violin), Rodrigo Domínguez (tenor sax), Juan Pablo Arredondo (guitar), Jerónimo Carmona (double-bass) and Carto Brandán (drums). This concert is one of the highlights of a day full of jazz in all of its styles, free at the Recoleta. This Tuesday there will be performances -besides Indigo Trio and Leo Alvarez- by Hugo Pierre quartet along with Ricardo Lew and friends, Luis Agudo and Pablo Bobrowicky, Ricardo Nolé, Les Amateurs and Paula Shocron’s orchestra.

This Wednesday, a holiday in Argentina, Buenos Aires Jazz.10 offers at the Centro Cultural Recoleta a rich program with nine free shows at Patio del Aljibe and the Terrace stage. The day will begin at 3.30 PM with Frank Carlberg's quintet, and at 5 PM with Fernando Tarrés at the Terrace (see below). At the same time, the quartet of Hugo Pierre and Ricardo Lew -along with some friends- will be performing at Patio del Alibe. Right there, from 6 PM it will be the turn of Ricardo Nolé Templando. At the same time, at the Terrace, the pianist Andrés Beeuwsaert’s quartet will be playing. At the Patio, at the same time, Trío Indigo and Leo Alvarez will get on stage. The closing of this jazz marathon will be at 8 PM with the concert by Paula Shocrón Orquesta and at 9 PM with the presentation of the trumpeter-presenter-entertainer and host of every jam session night, Gillespi (picture).

When this Wednesday at 9 PM the pianist Enrico Pieranunzi presents with his quintet the work “Fellini Jazz” – his interpretation of the most famous pieces in the filmography of his compatriot Federico, great filmmaker -- Buenos Aires Jazz.10 will put an end with an exquisite musical closure. Tickets for this first-class show, at prices ranging from 20 to 50 pesos, will be on sale at the web page www.festivales.gov.ar or can be purchased personally at Casa de la Cultura (Av. de Mayo 575) from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Este lunes por la noche desde las 23.30 h en La Trastienda Club, la tradicional jam session con entrada libre y gratuita, tendrá protagonistas de lujo. El supergrupo The Avengers (Adam Holzman, Lincoln Goines, Kim Plainfield, Beledo) presentará por primera vez en Buenos Aires su explosiva mezcla de jazz-rock, con Gillespi como amable anfitrión. Con la presentación de estos músicos virtuosos y docentes estimados –Goines y Plainfield brindaron sendas clínicas de sus instrumentos--, el Festival suma calidad a su rica programación 2010: la sola presencia de Holzman, en su regreso a los escenarios luego de varios años de ausencia, es un acontecimiento para la escena local.

El pianista brasileño Helio Alves, los italianos Luca Bulgarelli (contrabajo) y Mauro Beggio (batería, foto), y la cantante soprano Kim Nazarian protagonizarán, junto a los argentinos Ricardo Cavalli (saxo), Mariano Loiácono (trompeta), Manuel Ochoa (piano) y Cristian Bórtoli (bajo), la última noche de la sección “Cruces”, desde las 22 h en el Café Vinilo y Notorious. Las entradas para ambos espectáculos, a un valor de 40 pesos, están a la venta en la página web www.festivales.gov.ar o bien se pueden adquirir en la Casa de la Cultura (Av. de Mayo 575), hasta las 19 h.

El recital solopiano de Enrico Pieranunzi (foto) fue reprogramado y se concretará este martes a las 18 h en La Trastienda Club, Balcarce 460, San Telmo. Las entradas, a un valor de 30 pesos, se pueden adquirir en la página web www.festivales.gob.ar y también en el lugar del espectáculo, únicamente en efectivo. Será la esperada segunda presentación en Buenos Aires de uno de los músicos de jazz más prestigiosos del mundo. Pieranunzi cosechó elogios de la prensa especializada y del público presente en el recital que brindó con su trío el pasado sábado 4 en el 25 de Mayo. Ahora, es tiempo de disfrutarlo en plenitud, sólo frente al piano.

Este lunes desde las 11 h se dictarán, en Café Vinilo y Notorious, clínicas de batería, bajo y guitarra a cargo de especialistas como Kim Plainfield, Lincoln Goines y Kiko Ruiz, con la entrada a un valor de 40 pesos. Y a las 15 h en Samsung Studio, habrá una masterclass de Renaud García-Fons (foto) con entrada libre y gratuita --ingreso por orden de llegada, sujeto a la capacidad del lugar. Estos encuentros pedagógicos forman parte de la sección “El aula”, que el Festival potenció este año como uno de sus preceptos básicos.
