FILM SERIES STILL RUNNING
03 Thu 2011Every day until Sunday at 6 p.m., The Cinema & Jazz series screens an interesting selection of documentary films about musicians with both talent and an intense life worthy of telling. Their life stories are told by the artists themselves, their friends and their closest colleagues. The film scheduled for this Friday is Escape al silencio, by Chilean Diego Pequeño, about the legendary Chilean saxophonist Alfredo Espinoza, his international renown and his decline into anonymity.
KENNY WERNER IN A PIANO SOLO PERFORMANCE: A REAL TREAT

To understand its artistic value, all we have to do is go over the list of great figures that played at previous editions – Randy Weston, Fred Hersch, Enrico Pieranunzi. This year, New York pianist Kenny Werner will be responsible for delighting the audience at the BAJ.11 in his first visit to Buenos Aires. He will give a solo performance on Wednesday 2 at 7 p.m. at the Teatro Regio (Av. Córdoba 6056). 28 Fri 2011Crossovers is one of the hallmarks of the Festival and, this year, offers an alluring program with two concerts a night at Notorious and Café Vinilo. The series of shows begins on Tuesday 1, featuring Italian trombonist Carlo Mascolo and Colombian Holman Alvarez (piano) and Kike Harker (double bass), with Ada Rave (sax) and Luciano Ruggieri (drums) serving as the hosts at Notorious; and French saxophonist Sylvain del Campo, Chilean vibraphonist Diego Urbano, Colombian drummer Jorge Sepúlveda, Argentine guitarist Willy Cappa and Spanish double bass player Carlos Alvarez at Café Vinilo.
