Biography
Trumpeter and composer Gillespi debuted at the 1984 Mardel Jazz in a duo with
percussionist Kike Sanzol. He then formed La Sonora del Plata, with Mex Urtizberea, Nono Belvis and Horacio López. He has recorded and played with Sumo, Divididos, Gustavo Cerati, Charly García, Soda Stereo, Las Pelotas, Javier and Walter Malosetti, Rubén Rada, Hugo Fattoruso, Lito Vitale, Luis Salinas, Kevin Johansen, Fabiana
Cantilo, Los Piojos, Bersuit, Raúl Barboza, Mono Fontana, Adrián Iaies, Fats Fernández, Catupecu Machu, Gondwana, Arturo Sandoval, Alejandro Franov, Kabusacki, Los 7
Delfines and Willy Crook, among others. He composed the scores for the films Sabés
nadar?, Tico-Tico and Dolores de casada. Also, he has written music for contemporary
dance and television. He has participated at jazz festivals across the country and
opened for Erika Badou, Bebel Gilberto, Dewey Redman, Dave Mattews Band and
Ornette Coleman. He hosts a radio show called Falso impostor. Ultradeforme is the
first of a collection of six solo albums recorded with various ensembles. He has been
backed by Pedro Aznar, Paul Wertico, Mono Fontana, Guillermo Vadalá, Jota Morelli, Luis Salinas, Ricardo Mollo, Javier Malosetti, Gustavo Giles, Daniel Maza, Quintino
Cinalli, Hernán Merlo, Alejandro Franov, Patan Vidal, Lapo Gessaghi, among others. His discography also includes Es, Bell Ville, Gillerama and Eso pasó ayer. At this year’s
BAJ, he will perform with Sebastián Peyceré (drums), Ariel Ferreyrola (guitar) Paul
Dourge (bass) y Patan Vidal (piano).
